Food Drive

The holiday season is in full effect and as we all prepare to fill our bellies over the next few weeks let's take a moment to be thankful for all that we have and perhaps even all that we can still give. Every year and especially this year food banks are struggling to feed those in need and as a result many suffer malnutrition.

Malnutrition is the insufficient, excessive or imbalanced consumption of nutrients.[1][2] A number of different nutrition disorders may arise, depending on which nutrients are under or overabundant in the diet.

The World Health Organization cites hunger as the gravest single threat to the world's public health.[3] Malnutrition is, by far, the biggest contributor to child mortality, present in half of all cases.[3] Malnutrition, in the form of iodine deficiency, is the most common preventable cause of mental impairment

Keyword is "preventable", therefore Nutritionize will be sponsoring a food drive over the next few weeks. There will be a box in the cell for you to donate any canned or boxed food. All food will be donated to the Milpitas Food Pantry and serve the low, very low, and no income residents of Milpitas and Alviso. We all know how important nutrition is, and we are fortunate enough to worry about balanced meals, and meal timings rather than just having a meal. So lets make it happen for others!

Looking forward to making our first food drive a success!!!

If you have other suggestions on how we can improve community nutrition, please post to comments…
